Preparation of carbon paste
The process begins with the preparation of a special carbon paste that will serve as a heating element in the foil. This paste is a mixture of carbon materials and connectors, adapted to ensure optimal thermal conductivity and electrical properties. The recipe for our carbon paste is the best kept secret of Termofol.
Carbon printing on PET foil
Then, the prepared carbon paste is applied to polyethylene terephthalate (PET) foil using special printers. This makes it possible to precisely apply the paste in specific patterns and thicknesses, which is crucial for the uniformity and effectiveness of heating foils.
Coal hardening
After applying the carbon paste, the foil undergoes a hardening process that can take place in an oven or by exposure to ultraviolet radiation. This process stabilizes the carbon paste, increasing its adhesion to the PET film and providing the electrical properties necessary to generate heat.
Silver print
The next step is to apply silver, which serves as electrical connections for the heating elements. Silver provides excellent electrical conductivity, which is of great importance for the effective distribution of current through the heating foil.
Re-hardening
After applying the silver print, the foil is hardened again to ensure the durability and stability of the electrical conductive paths.
Applying copper tape
To ensure an effective electrical connection and distribute energy throughout the foil, a copper tape is placed on its edges. This tape acts as electrodes, enabling the foil to be connected to the power source.
Foil lamination
The final stage is lamination, i.e. covering the heating foil with a protective layer that protects the heating and electrical elements against mechanical damage and the influence of external factors. Lamination also provides electrical insulation and improves the safety of using the heating foil.
